Library Records

2.1 In accordance with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Statutes (Title 24, Chapter 16, Article IV, 24P. S. 4428), and as recommended by the American Library Association, the following records, related to the circulation of library materials, identifying the names of Library users and other personally identifiable information shall be considered confidential in nature and may be revealed only to record holders for library business use. This includes:

  • Titles and number of items checked out
  • Titles and number of items on reserve
  • Overdue and fine account information
  • Reference questions
  • Interlibrary loan requests and transactions

Library Cards

In order to borrow materials, you must present a valid library card. This may be a physical card or one scanned into a mobile device.

Children under the age of 18 may obtain their own card when accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult with the required identification. The consenting adult assumes all legal responsibility for any charges the minor may incur.

Code of Conduct

Library Patrons have the right to receive assistance from library staff and to use the library and its services without being disturbed by others.

They have a responsibility to behave in a manner that does not violate the rights of others and their use of the library or interfere with library services and operations, including library personnel’s performance of their duties. All areas of the library, including meeting rooms, entrances, restrooms, furnishings, and equipment must be used for their intended purposes and are covered by this policy.
