Dungeons and Dragons

Fridays: February 22. March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Dungeons and Dragons is open to 6-12th graders. Come for fun gameplay and camaraderie. Please register online for each session you wish to join. If you have questions, please contact Annika Sundberg at asundberg@derrytownship.org

Artemis Starship Simulation

Friday, February 15. 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Teen program for kids in grade 6+.  You and others assume the jobs of Captain, Helm, Science, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control. Together you operate your ship and defend the sector from evil aliens. Sign in to the starship “deck” at 4:00 p.m. (“After Hours” because the program continues after the library closes at 5 pm. ) Please register online.

Student Film Festival

Student Submissions Are Needed by April 1. The 7th Annual Friends of Hershey Public Library Student Film Festival seeks to showcase and recognize local student filmmakers’ creative work. Download the 2019 STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL SUBMISSION FORM. Forms will be available for pick up at the library in February. The festival will take place on April 27, 2019 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Hershey Public Library. We will show as many films as possible in that time. Click here to read more.

CHESS CLUB

 

Saturdays from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, drop in for a fun afternoon of chess. Children ages 12 and older may be in the library alone, but younger children will need an adult in the building. No registration needed.Please see the Events Calendar for details.  Our next USCF Rated Chess Tournament - Saturday, May 4.  Click here for details.

Girls Who Code

Tuesday afternoons 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Register online. If you have questions, call (717) 533-6555 ext. 3708. Girls in grades 6-12 learn how to use computer science to impact their community and join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models. The program is designed for students with a wide range of computer science experience. Activities are available for girls with ZERO computer science experience all the way up to activities that introduce college-level concepts. The broad set of soft and hard skills taught are: Teamwork, confidence, time management, communication, functions, variables, conditional, and loops. Instructor: Lin Taylor.
